Video Poker is a beloved game that is able to be played in casinos throughout the world, or alternatively at your house on your home computer, through a net connection. The rules are very simple and involve the player trying to achieve the best combination of cards possible in order to come away with money. On this account it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and bettors will need to now choose which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.
After the bettor has decided on which cards she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards are handed out if desired. The game is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Typically, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that discerning players are able to choose the most money-making machine each instance.
Once the first round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that might have been won. Further, several styles of the game give the gambler a chance to increase their winnings, in which instance a further hand is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
