Video Poker is a favored game that can be wagered on in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your computer, through an Internet account. The rules are very straightforward and involve the player trying to get the highest mixture of cards as you can in order to win cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, without the interaction with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker starts when the player inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A 5 card hand will then be electronically ‘handed out’ on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the enthusiast has chosen which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards will be dealt if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.
Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payment schedule can change from game to game, so that experienced gamblers are able to choose the most profitable ones every time.
After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that might been won. Additionally, some versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to increase their profits, in which instance a further round is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing characteristics to enhance playability.
