Electronic Poker is a popular game that is able to be played in casinos across the world, or alternatively at home on your computer, using a web connection. The rules are very straightforward and involve the player trying to achieve the highest combination of cards as you can in order to acquire cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, without the line of contact with competing players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the deal button. A 5 card hand will be electronically ‘dealt’ on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and bettors will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the player has decided on which cards he or she would like to retain, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards are given out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.
Normally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable enthusiasts are agile enough to choose the most profitable game each time.
Once the first round has finished, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that have been won. Further, a few versions of the game allow the player a chance to double their winnings, in which situation a further game is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
