Electronic-Poker is merely a combination of two common forms of gambling: the slots using the poker game. Succeeding at a game of Electronic Poker requires a combination of gambler ability with good fortune, making it a favorite with bettors. The game of poker is thought to have originated back in 1830, where it is recorded as having been enjoyed by French expatriates living in New Orleans. Video Poker uses a variation of the game known as 5card draw poker. Meanwhile, the coin-operated card machine (better-known affectionately as a "slot machine") was first invented in the late 1800’s, with poker machines showing up in San Francisco in Eighteen Ninety. These machines were really basic by today’s standards, using actual cards rather than symbols.

The machines declined in interest throughout the initial half of the 1900’s. Economic issues mixed with the restricted technology of the machines themselves meant that people just weren’t interested in playing anymore. A really primitive digital poker machine was released in Nineteen Sixty-Four but achieved only average success.

It was not until the mid-70’s that the Video Poker machines as we know it today grew to become available. Breakthroughs in technologies meant that a central processing unit (CPU) could be put inside the machines to give them a "brain", whilst a monitor transmitted the action to the gambler.

Meanwhile, casino operators searched for new high-profit games, and the combination of a slots using the extra traditional game of five-card draw poker proved to be a winning combination of the old and new. The first Video Poker machines was built in 1976 by Bally Manufacturing. It was only black and white, but a color version was developed just 8 months later, by the Fortune Coin Organization. Over the next handful of years, chips started to be more affordable to mass produce, and additional gambling establishments introduced Electronic Poker machines as they started to be more financially viable. A version known as Draw Poker was launched in ‘79 by a corporation now called IGT, and it achieved amazing success.

Electronic Poker actually took off inside early 80s where it became famous in gambling establishments across Sin City. Bettors found themselves less anxious by a machines than they were when playing at a table in front of others. The popularity of the game has continuously improved throughout the last twenty-five years and it can now be found in the majority of casinos around the world, along with bars and on the Web.
